Showers TodayFlorida’s southwest coast will see sun and a few showers on Wednesday. The day features plenty of sun to start, with some clouds and showers developing in the afternoon. Highs on Wednesday will be in the low 90s.

 

 

Showers TodayAn upper level low arrives on Thursday, so look more clouds and periods of storms and showers. Thursday’s highs will be in the upper 80s.

Friday will bring clouds, passing showers, and periods of storms. Friday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

The upper level low moves out late on Friday, but moisture will linger on Saturday and Sunday. Both weekend days feature some sun but passing showers and storms as well. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper 80s.

Showers TodayIn the tropics, Tropical Storm Ophelia continues to move slowly in the central Atlantic. At 5 am Wednesday, Ophelia was located near 30.2 North, 37.0 West, and was moving southeast at 6 miles per hour. Maximum sustained winds were 65 miles per hour, and Ophelia is expected to reach hurricane strength within a day or so

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA’s Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida’s hurricane history.
